Matthew Cupelli is a breaking news reporter at the Cincinnati Enquirer, where he covers crime, public safety and government accountability across Ohio and Northern Kentucky. His reporting has examined how officers with repeated misconduct climb the ranks and the gaps in Ohio's gun laws.
Before Cincinnati, he covered public safety and state politics in Florida, where his work was republished by the Associated Press, Miami Herald, Tampa Bay Times and other outlets. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Florida in 2025 and interned at the Indianapolis Star.
He's grateful to turn his curiosity about the criminal justice system into a full-time career.
